Selecting a Wedding Celebrant in Perth

Weddings are a serious business. It’s not just about planning the style of your wedding there are also the legal documents to look after and the most important part, the “I do.”

A good wedding celebrant will make your life a whole lot easier by organising the legal admin that goes on behind the scenes of your event while providing you with assistance to make your celebration as smooth as possible.

Perth wedding celebrants are abundant so selecting the right one for you entails meeting and chatting with a few and looking at the personality traits and skills that align with your needs.

How to choose a wedding celebrant and what to look for?

1. Great presentation and people skills

It is a wedding after all!

All your guests will be well presented in formal attire so it is important your celebrant also dresses for the occasion. Your family and friends will be excited to be sharing this special event with you so you’ll need a celebrant to match the tone.
Seek someone fun who is interested in understanding the relationship you share with your partner, your interests, quirks, and stories, will all help create a genuine tone of the couple’s distinctive characteristics.

2. Creative approach

When making your shortlist of celebrants look for the people you feel you can build a natural rapport with, this will make you feel more comfortable on your wedding day. A celebrant who can listen to your needs and be open to ideas and then express this creatively is a winner.
A good celebrant will also share with you a copy of the written ceremony so you can review this together. They can assist you with wedding vows offer suggestions for readings or even wedding music for the ceremony.

3. Organised with good time management skills

Look for someone who will create a personalised and heartfelt experience throughout your interaction. A great communicator who can create an atmosphere that will enhance the happiest day of your life.

Consistent communication and follow ups are reassuring as well, obviously they have a job to do with some formalities that need to take place so communicating this on the day or prior is key.

Whether you have a preference to male or female, someone new to the industry or more experienced, we asked a handful of Perth’s finest marriage celebrants a few questions about what they do and what makes them stand out from the rest. You can read their answers below.

Q. What is the most important personality trait you can bring to someone’s ceremony?
A. ENERGY! And lots of it! A wedding ceremony should be a very uplifting, positive and inspiring experience. It is integral to exude lots of these feelings and emotions for both the couple and all their guests.
Q. What was the most memorable experience you have had working as a celebrant?
A. It is impossible to pinpoint just one! There are so many! However, recently performing a ceremony for two male friends of mine who have been waiting for so long for the opportunity to finally get married was a very special and heartfelt experience for me. The love that was within that space was overwhelming.

Q. Why do couples choose you for their ceremonies?
A. Most of my feedback generally highlights a few similar reasons why couples choose me. Firstly, the experience. I try my hardest to keep it very simple, easy-going and non-stressful. I want my couples to enjoy the experience as much as possible. Secondly, the support and reassurance that I offer both leading up to the wedding day and on the day itself. And lastly, because I just want to have lots and lots of fun!!!
