Planning a New Years Party at Home

Planning a New Years party at home?

What better way to bring in the new decade than to host a 2020 party at home.
When planning a New Years party at home there are a few things to consider.

Your checklist will include a styled theme reflected in the food, drinks and entertainment.
It can be as simple as planning a colour theme like gold, silver or a tone of colours to set the mood. Personalise your party with an elaborate theme to keep guests excited till the countdown to midnight begins.

It’s always a good idea to start the party between 6pm-8pm.
An outdoor party, like a New Year’s BBQ should start earlier. Guest will enjoy socialising while the food is cooking and drinks are flowing.
An intimate sit-down New Year’s dinner can start later, perhaps with  finger food and cocktails on arrival. Leading into a dinner with a table of sweets to finish.

When hosting for more guests than usual, you may need some help with setting up. You can hire out any extra tables, chairs, benches, crockery or cutlery you may need. We also have wooden disposable cutlery sets that can help with your New Years party essentials.

Remember it’s all in the details…

Add some sparkle to your New Years with any of the following ideas;
Keep it social and create a balloon feature wall for guests to take pictures against. Our beautiful Arbor scaffold shelving is always a hit. Fill it with drinks and treats for guests to enjoy.
Get creative, hire one of our mesh backdrops and decorate them with streamers or anything glitzy. Add some face masks or New Years Eve props and set up a photo booth station.

If you are hosting an outdoor party our range of outdoor lounges or table and chair settings are perfect for your party festivities. These come in white or eggshell, in a variety of mix and match sets.

Maybe have a giant clock and count down area to the New Year and decorate it with any of our lighting options. Fairy lights or festoon lights would help set the mood.

If you are not too sure what theme to host view our styled packages for more New Years party inspiration. There we showcase a range of interesting products you can hire for your New Years party at home.

Set up a bubbles corner with bottles of champagne, flute glasses and treats for bringing in the New Year. Alcohol sweet treats are always a hit. Try Irish coffee cheese cake, Margarita bars or everyone’s favourite Tiramisu.

Bring on the games

Playlists, music & games are just as important as the beverages, as you don’t want guests getting bored.
Have plenty of activities to keep people interested and entertained until Midnight.

Put guest’s creative skills to the test and sort out the mega crafty to the not so crafty. Make everyone create their own New Years crown. It will be like entertaining a couple of kings and queens.

Make some paper drinking cards. Start your cards with ‘Drink if’… and fill in the blanks
Example, Drink if you had a nap before arriving or if you took a selfie in the past hour.
Play board games, a fun activity in large groups and you’ll have loads of time for a few rounds of drinks.

Play simple guessing games, exchange ‘best of 2019 stories’ or create New Year’s resolutions for each other. After-all our friends and family know us best!

Have a collaborated playlist of everyone’s favourite music and dance the night away.
Whatever your style of music, bring in 2020 like a dancing queen.
